Optimization and Calibration of EPI Raw Data Reconstruction Parameters to Minimize Image Ghosting Using Image-Based Corrections

چکیده
Introduction: Echo planar images (EPI) are applied in a variety of diagnostic techniques that rely on fast acquisition of imaged data. EPI applications in common practice range from dynamic-contrast studies used to monitor the passage of injected contrast over time for stroke, tumor evaluation, and cardiac assessment to fMRI applications where a large series of images (typically thousands) are processed to provide spatial and temporal evaluation of neurological brain function. It is highly desired in these applications to produce a large series of ghost artifact-free EPI images. Higher levels of ghosting can produce more false positive errors in diagnosis and reduce the quality of the images.

Magnetic resonance image reconstruction from non-equidistantly sampled data
In this paper, we consider the problem of magnetic resonance (MR) image reconstruction from non-uniformly sampled data acquired by echo-planar imaging (EPI) and spiral scan imaging (SSI) techniques. In EPI, mismatches in the timings of the odd and even echoes collected with readout gradients of alternating polarity will result in \N=2" ghosting in the reconstructed images. We propose a new meth...
متن کاملUltra-Fast Image Reconstruction of Tomosynthesis Mammography Using GPU
Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) is a technology that creates three dimensional (3D) images of breast tissue. Tomosynthesis mammography detects lesions that are not detectable with other imaging systems. If image reconstruction time is in the order of seconds, we can use Tomosynthesis systems to perform Tomosynthesis-guided Interventional procedures. This research has been designed to study u...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of FBP Reconstruction in SPECT Imaging
Introduction: The purpose of this study is to define the optimal parameters for the tomographic reconstruction procedure in a routine single photon emission tomography. The Hoffman brain phantom is modified to evaluate the reconstruction method. The phantom was imaged in a 3 and 2-dimensional conformation and the results were compared. Materials and Methods: The 2D phant...
متن کاملImage Optimization and reduction of radiation dose in CT of the paranasal sinuses
Introduction: Since demand for computed tomography (CT) examinations is growing, patients are exposed more frequently to ionizing radiation. To reduce the dose delivered to patients in each scan, CT technologists can change the image acquisition parameters. However, this reduces image quality. Present study aimed to optimize and reduce radiation dose in a CT of the paranasal si...
متن کاملGhosting Reflection Compensation for Multispectral High Dynamic Range Imaging
A compact overall design of a multispectral camera can be achieved by placing the bandpass filters between the lens and sensor. However, internal reflections between the sensor (or IR cut filter) and the optical filters may lead to weak duplicate images which impair the image quality. The duplicates called ghosting are especially noticeable near bright image regions and interfere with the surro...
